Job Description:

Role Purpose: A Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients.

• Completes admitting and shift assessments on assigned patients; accurately and within time-frame set in policy and procedures.
• Utilizes critical judgement to analyze patient assessment data, completes a care pathway for each assigned patient and delegates patient care appropriately.
• Implements individualized nursing interventions for each patient assigned.
• Evaluates nursing care and modifies interventions based on the patient's response.
• Accurately documents all nursing care provided and adheres to nursing standards.
• Consistently and accurately reviews and implements physicians orders.
• Constantly maintains a safe work environment by: adhering to the policies and procedures of the department and organization; complies with all regulatory requirements, appropriately operating equipment; following established infection control guidelines and reporting safety hazards.
• Routinely educates patients and families based on assessed needs, documents education provided, and keeps them informed of tests and treatments.
• Regularly rounds on all assigned patients according to protocol.
• Attends 100% mandatory meetings, 50% of departmental unit meetings and reads 100% of minutes from meetings not attended.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate's Degree in Nursing
• Current Illinois RN license

Physical Requirements: Employees in this position are, or can be, required to possess the following physical capabilities.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 100 lbs.
• Stooping, kneeling and/or crouching daily
• Standing or walking more than 12 hours a day
• Running to respond to patient emergencies
• Reaching, grasping, fingering, and/or feeling more than 12 hours a day
• Visual acuity in order to correctly distinguish skin tone variations, evidence of IV infiltration, infection; able to read telemetry, blood pressure gauges, etc.
• Audio acuity in order to correctly distinguish various body sounds (i.e., respirations, heart tones, bowel sounds).
• Audio acuity to discern sounds made by various types of machinery or equipment that would indicate dangerous or improper operation
